ANGEL and Blackboard users may need to adjust their browser pop-up blocker settings.

Online students and faculty may find that when logging into their courses, the Open SUNY Browser Compatibility area alerts them to adjust their browser pop-up settings. This must be done to allow various features of the learning management system to function correctly. The following browser-specific directions will illustrate how to adjust these settings.

Internet Explorer 10/9 (click to show/hide)

Internet Explorer 8 (click to show/hide)

Mozilla Firefox 4 and higher (click to show/hide)

Mozilla Firefox 3.6 (click to show/hide)

    Google Chrome

    1. When on the ANGEL or Blackboard login page, a notification button may appear at the top of the page stating that a pop-up has been blocked.
    2. Click the button to show the options menu.
    3. Choose Allow pop-ups for <site address>. You will need to click the Reload button at the top of the browser window to refresh the page and update the information in the Open SUNY Browser Compatibility area.

    1. Click the Safari menu at the top of the screen.
    2. Select Preferences.
    3. In the Preferences window, select the Security tab.
    4. Click Block Pop-Up Windows to remove the checkmark.

Due to the fact that Safari does not allow exceptions to the pop-up blocker, Open SUNY highly recommends re-enabling it using the same steps shown above when finished working in ANGEL or Blackboard. Doing so will help prevent unwanted pop-ups and aid overall browser security when viewing other websites.

Please note that Safari for Windows is not currently supported by either ANGEL or Blackboard learning management systems, and is not recommended for use.
