SLN trains new online faculty, experienced online faculty, faculty that want to blend or technology-enhance their instruction, and online instructional designers who support faculty to develop/deliver tech-enhanced, blended. and/or fully online courses. We also facilitate, cultivate, and support communities of practice among online faculty, online instructional designers, online students, and directors of online learning to promote networking, sharing effective practices and promoting a culture of continuous improvement via professional development. We provide professional development and support in a variety of ways (f2f training, webinars, online asynchronous courses, self-service materials, etc.) We can customize and create customized training, materials and objects, based on needs.

Our model and pedagogical perspectives assume a social constructivist approach to learning. That means that we support the development of online courses that are predominantly designed by the faculty teaching them and that they are largely interaction-based.
